The Northern Illinois University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences proudly presents the Persona Project, a collection of online biographies written by students, often under the supervision of college faculty.

While the current site contains over 300 biographies, it is only a rough prototype of what is to come in the following months. Since the Persona Project will publish any well-written, well-researched biography written by an NIU student, we have the potential to become the largest and most reliable source of biographies on the web.

As far as we can tell, the Persona Project is the first project of its type on the web. The goals of the project are:

• to increase the value of the web as an academic resource.
• to encourage students to participate in the online academic community.
• to provide students with a showcase for their talents, as well as a valuable work experience.
• to participate in the ongoing college effort to forge links between the college and the greater community.
